Remains Unbeaten

By Chris Spaulding
On a
crisp fall day the Windham Middle school
football team (8-0) laid their undefeated record
on the line against Bonny Eagle (4-4).
Coach
Coons was pleased with the discipline his teams
showed, "I was most impressed at the fact we
only had three penalties in the A game and one
in the B game."
A GAME
The
Eagles closed out an undefeated regular season
with a 25-12 win over the Scots in Windham.
Quarterback Colby Waterhouse found Damien
Shepard deep on two occasions that ended in
touchdowns.
Damien Shepard ended the game with 81 yards
receiving and 38 yards on the ground. Colby
Waterhouse threw for 81 yards and rushed for 53
and a touchdown.
While
finishing the season undefeated is a great
accomplishment, Coach Coons stated, "As a coach
I don't base the success of the season just on
wins and losses but on the fact that ALL of the
players are improving as the season progresses."
B GAME
The
Eagles closed out their season with a 22-0 rout
of Bonny Eagle on the legs of Josiah Purves who
tore it up for three touchdowns and 146 yards
behind the blocks of his brother Gabe.
Coach
Coons stated, "I am so proud of my kids. They
have given their all since July 30th. Each of
them have worked very hard to attain the goals
that were set for them early on."
Windham enters the playoffs as the #1 seed and
will face off against eighth seeded Wells. in
Windham. The winner of this game moves on to
face the winner of the game between fourth
seeded Noble and fifth seeded Bonny Eagle.
Coach
Coons said, "Finishing the season 8-0 was a
great accomplishment, but the hard part comes
now when you are going to be playing teams for
the second time."
