A Squad
The Windham Eagles A squad defeated Scarborough
40-15.
The game started with Scarborough winning the
toss and proceeded to burn four and a half
minutes off the clock to score their first
touchdown and added a kicked point after.
Windham got the ball and the only note I made
was it was a horrible first possession.
On Windham’s next possession, Sean Ramnarine
took the ball on the opening play 75 yards for a
touchdown. Windham failed on the two point
conversion. With nine minutes left in the
second quarter, the bad vibes hit the Eagles.
Sean Ramnarine went down after a ten yard run.
He was helped off the field and later helped to
a waiting car, taken to the hospital and was
treated for a leg injury according to sources.
Sean has been instrumental in the Eagles
offensive success this season and a replacing
him is going to be a challenge.
The Eagles recovered and took a punt 60 yards
for an apparent touchdown only to have it called
back on a penalty. Colby Waterhouse punched in
a fourteen yard touchdown after the alleged
infraction.
The Eagles failed on their second two point
conversion. Scarborough quickly answered with
their own touchdown and showed the Eagles how to
score two point conversions.
With 45 seconds showing on the clock, the Red
Storm kicked off. Calvin Field took the kick
and returned it 53 yards to the Red Storm 15
yard line.
After a penalty, TD O’Brien pitched to Colby
Waterhouse and he passed to hit Kyle Deschene in
the end zone for the third Eagle touchdown. The
two point conversion again was foiled.
The halftime score was 18-15 in favor of the
Eagles. In the second half, it was all Eagles
and no Red Storm. Highlights included another
pitch to Waterhouse who hit Damien Shepherd with
a pass for a 55 yard touchdown. Shepherd later
would add another TD with a 42 yard kick
return. (Yes, this kid is Ramnarine’s
replacement.)
The Eagles finally figured out how to score two
point conversions and converted 2 of them thanks
to TD O’Brien and Colby Waterhouse.
B Squad
This game was a heart breaker. The Eagles
didn’t show their true form and were missing
Damien Shepherd’s play due to his services being
used in the A squad game. Final score was
Scarborough 14-8 over the Eagles.
No scores were recorded in the first half.
The Red Storm hit the scoreboard two minutes
into the third quarter. They showed the Eagles
the successful two point conversion.
Throughout the game, Coach Coons jumbled the
offense and defense. Due to injuries, he had to
make some adjustments. Several players took
turns in various running back positions.
After the Red Storm put another touchdown on the
board, Windham came back and scored one of their
own. Josiah Purves took the ball and scrambled
5 yards to get the lone touchdown for the
Eagles.
He, additionally, demonstrated to the Red Storm
that the Eagles can score two point
conversions. Of special note was the return of
lineman Tyler Pennanen to the lineup. He has
been out due to a hand injury. Look for him to
contribute more in the coming weeks.
The MS Football Eagles travel to Kittery on
Sunday September 23. Game time is 1pm.
