Windham MS Football Continues Winning Ways.
BY David Field
Before Sunday’s game, Coach
Todd Coons was pacing anxiously. He
admitted to me that he was nervous.
Windham’s solid talent cooled
his nerves early in the game. The 57 degree
rainy day might have helped as well. Sean
Ramnarine again was key in putting points on
the board for the Windham A squad with 9
carries for 112 yards rushing, one touchdown
and 2 2 point conversions. The Noble
defense was keying on Ramnarine so the A
squad offense showed the spread formation
several times. QB TD O’Brien had 7
completions for 69 yards and had 4
incomplete passes. Rounding out the
scoring, Raymond native Zach Tolman rushed 7
times for 35 yards and 1 TD, Kyle Deschene
had 5 carries for 13 yards and 1 TD and
Colby Waterhouse had 5 carries, for 28 yards
and 1 TD. Christian Coons also added a 2
point conversion. The stingy A squad
defense was led by Tyler Stevens with 5.5
tackles, Ben Staples 4.5 and Kyle Deschenes
with 4. The final score was Windham 28,
Noble 6.
In the B squad game, Windham
won the opening kick off and quickly put
points on the board. Damien Shepherd scored
his first of 3 TD’s for the day on the first
possession. Noble’s defense keyed on him
but couldn’t contain him allowing 64 rushing
and 62 yards pass receptions respectively.
QB Calvin Field scored Windham’s second TD
of the game on a broken play 20 yard run.
Field had 3 carries for 60 yards and 3
completions for 82 yards. Defensive end,
Josiah Purves, led the B squad defense with
8 tackles. The final score was Windham 24,
Noble 0.
Things heat up this coming
weekend with the Middle School squad slated
to face Scarborough in Scarborough.
Scarborough A (2-1) lost to Saco A 6-0 this
past weekend and Saco had defeated Noble
19-0. So, this could be the face off of 2
of the hottest teams in the league.
Scarborough B is undefeated. So the B game
could be very interesting. Let’s keep the
Eagle pride going at Scarborough this Sunday
at 1pm at the Scarborough HS (turf!!!)
Field.
