Windham Middle School 8th Grade Boys Wins in
OT!

Windham 8th
grad boys kicked off their season with an
exciting 46-40 win over Westbrook at home.
Westbrook
grabbed the rebound with seconds remaining
in regulation and moved the ball quickly up
court with Windham leading 37-35. Nolan
Allen fouled the shooter outside the 3-point
line as time ran out.
The Westbrook
player missed the first free throw but sank
the next two to send the game into overtime.
Steve Newcomb
opened the scoring in overtime with a two
pointer.
With 2:09
remaining, Mitchell Hodge drew a foul and
sank one of two free throws to put Windham
up by three points. Windham capitalized on a
turnover and Nolan Allen drove up the court,
finishing with a beautiful left handed layup
to extend the lead to five with 1:13
remaining.
Westbrook
wasn't about to back down. #23 drained a
three pointer to close the gap to two
points.
Nolan Allen
showed his ability from outside by matching
the three point shot and put Windham back up
by five points with 20 seconds to go in the
game.
Dana King
finished the scoring at the free throw line
by sinking one of two shots to make the
final score 46-40.
One of the
referees commented it was "A spirited game."
Windham plays
at Gorham at 3:30pm on Friday November 30,
2007.
