November 28, 2007
By David Field
Windham (1-0)
opened the 2007-08 season with a 34-20 win
against Westbrook (0-1) at home.
Coach Adam
Manzo said, "Nervous, Excited, Eager. The
start of another basketball season is
underway described how my players were
feeling leading up to their first game.
Sitting in the front row of the bleachers
before the game I was able to get a good
sense of how they were feeling by listening
to their conversations during the
8th grade
game. Every year the players echo the same
sentiments."
Joe Francoeur
opened the scoring for
Windham
in the first quarter by putting in six
points and
Dylan Weisser added two points to make the score
8-6 at the end of the first period.

Coach Manzo
added, "As the game begins to unwind, after
the first basket is scored, rebound is
grabbed, I noticed the boys finally settled
in and got down to the business at hand,
beating Wescott Middle School."
In the second
quarter, the squad that didnt play in the
first quarter played aggressive defense and
only allowed one basket.
Windham scored
seven points to make it 15-8 at the half.
The third
quarter saw Windham's scoring drop and their
defense stutter. However, the Westbrook
squad wasnt able to catch up. In the fourth
quarter,
Windham
came alive and scored 15 points to put the
game out of reach for their neighbors.
Joe Francoeur led all
scorers with 12 points and was followed
closely by his brother
Shawn with seven
points.
Hawreh Haddadi added six points for
the
Eagles.

Coach Manzo
said, "The boys played hard on both ends of
the floor and earned their first win. We
still have plenty of things to improve on,
but with the hard work and determination, I
really believe this team will be a force to
be reckoned with. Stay tuned as the boys
play their second game of the season in
Gorham on Friday."
