Windham
battles back but comes up short 64-48 to
Deering.
Deering opened
a big lead, 34-15 at the half. Point Guard
Travis Guerrette tried to lead the team by
attacking the rim but the young team looked
hesitant to put the ball up.
Windham came
out more aggressive in the third quarter,
going on a 11-2 run and closing the gap to
ten points before Deering regained their
footing.
When asked
about the halftime speech that got the
Eagles on track in the third quarter Coach
Millington replied, "The whole focus was
being more physical than we were in the
first half. We didn't rebound well in the
first and did not get after them
defensively. We needed to attack them and
act like we belong in the same league as
them."
The Eagles
proved that they could play with them in the
third quarter. If not for five missed free
throws this game would have gotten much
closer, possibly giving the young team the
confidence they needed to finish off the
comeback attempt.
This team has
a lot of talent and will only get better as
they get more experience and build more
confidence.
Deering's
Donovan led all scorers with 20 points and
point guard Parker Dodd aided the Rams with
10 points, including two three-pointers to
help them pull away late in the game.
Ryan
MacQueston led Windham with 15 points,
including three three-pointers. Travis
Guerrette helped with 8 points and led the
team with three assists and four steals.
Jon Sangillo
added 10 points, Nick Taylor had six and
Nate Dixon led the team with five rebounds.
Windham is in
the middle of tough stretch of their
schedule, facing some of the tougher teams
in the league and face Cheverus on Tuesday,
arguably one of the favorites for a State
Title.
